Day 3: Deploy the 'Chute!


Today ended up being about implementing the parachute and hammering out some key design decisions such as: Do we use current altitude to determine when the chute pulls or a straight up time to impact countdown. At the moment it says Altitude, but after fiddling around, I feel like a countdown to impact is more clear to the player and also a bit easier to implement.

I created a color variant of the sky diver for the NPCs you (hopefully) want to avoid. I plan to make their parachutes fail if you hit them, sending them falling to their doom.

I also began drawing a shitty seagull, then my dog needed a walk and it was quitting time anyway so I'll continue that work tomorrow.
